Sam Palmer Contrary to popular opinion, I actually get far away from the computer and refer to the notes app on my iphone and slowly piece together what the next scene may be. Sometimes this delays the writing for periods of weeks or months, but as long as you keep revising the narrative layout, your mind gets time to chew over what content you will write when you next get a bolt of inspiration.
Sam Palmer Nothing can beat the feeling of having a printed version of the book you have written in your hands.
Sam Palmer A good skeleton structure helps a lot. I also review every bit of writing out loud by reading to my wife (bless her). When you read out loud it is easy to find mistakes and ensure the plot ties together nicely.
Sam Palmer I am writing the skelton structure for the sequel to The Gaijin. I left the end as it was as I had an idea already penned to help conclude the events of book one.
Sam Palmer It depends really. I tried Stephen King's advice to write 2000 words a day, but found I was cutting a lot of that content. I try now to pen ideas in note form when they come to me and flesh them out when I get home. The notes app on my iphone is constantly open ready to receive new ideas.
Sam Palmer As cliche as it sounds, I dreamt the whole narrative and penned the skeleton structure when I awoke that night. Since then I have embellished the narrative slightly, taking influences from a variety of media that I have consumed whilst writing.
