Kate Murdoch Don't be afraid to put your work out there to be critiqued by strangers, in real life and on the internet. Criticism is the only way to learn and it gives you confidence as you see your writing improve. Just be discerning what advice to take on and what to reject.
Kate Murdoch I read something about an 18th century nobleman who would leave his chateau followed by three of four carriages, all containing his mistresses. I wondered about how all these women would get along, and the inevitable tensions. From there, I began to write 'The Orange Grove.'
