Trying to make sense of things, I make notes about thoughts, what I have experienced and read. Eventually these notes overflow and demand an outlet. I almost never stare at a blank sheet of paper: my subconscious does most of the work. In this regard, my writing is not always voluntary.

Based on my experiences and those of friends and family living in London during the height of the Cold War, the main thread of the story reflects relationships under pressure and our ability to normalise situations. And how this ‘normalisation’ is not necessarily a good thing, because it can lead to the acceptance of the unacceptable.
