I'm currently reading "Summerland," by Michael Chabon. I hadn't read a good baseball book in a long time, and this one seems to be a mix of baseball novel/high fantasy. I'm excited, and through the first 3 chapters, I'm already really into it.
I try to read an English and a German book at the same time, so I'm also reading "Die Seiten der Welt," by Kai Mayer. It's a book about books. I feel like half the German books I've read fall into that category.

I'm lucky to have not had to deal much with writer's block. When I'm writing well, one section tends to flow into the next. I also have two levels of storyboards: the overarching story, which I have vaguely mapped out to the end of the book; and the immediate story, which I have mapped out in detail for a few chapters. When I'm caught up to my immediate storyboard, I'll sit down and work out the next few chapters. Sometimes the characters surprise me and go in a different direction than I had planned, and then I modify my storyboards so I don't write myself into a corner.

I'm currently writing a sequel to "The Supes." My goal is to have the first draft finished by the end of the summer.

Inspiration is tricky. If you only write when you're feeling inspired, you won't end up writing very much. For me, self-discipline is more important than inspiration. I usually have several chapters planned out in advance, so it's just a matter of writing them and finding the right voice for the chapter. Some days I'll have to delete everything I've written because it's bad, but it helps me stay disciplined for the next time I write.
