The universe I create is mine. Nobody can tell me what I can and can't do, and when they try to, I like to remind them that if we all lived by the same rules, Discworld wouldn't exist and neither would Harry Potter.
It's a sense of pride when a fan messages me, saying they loved it, it's a wonderful feeling to know I've helped give them a break from the day to day and sucked them into my world for a while.
Maybe with a nice cup of tea!

It sounds arrogant, but determination and hope that it can help others. I've generally always been the one to help others and have to look after myself, but this time, I was writing this for myself and maybe, someone else in the same position as me will see it and try for themselves, be the success they're not sure they could ever be.
I'd also like to be in the position that my parents can be proud of me.

I've always loved mythology, legends and crytpids. I find it fascinating that so many places and cultures can have the same creatures, but they'll be drastically different. Vampires are a good example of that!
When people go into the wilds of Africa and get eaten by lions or something, everyone, understandably, accepts that they're wild animals, humans are a great source of protein for said animal.
But, if a load of houses are built in those wilds and someone gets eaten by a lion in their living room, suddenly everyone is up in arms. I wonder if it was possible to explain to those lions that they really can't just eat people, it's not conducive to survival.
Maybe crytpids are the same? Maybe bunyips don't want to eat people? Maybe banshees scream because they're in pain? Maybe they stubbed a toe, who knows.
It's a lack of communication that will destroy everything.
That's where Dun an Doras came from.

Don't give up.
Don't.
I know it seems like it'll be easier, but it's not.
I started Dun an Doras about 10 years ago, didn't really think much of it and I put it down.
For about 9 years, I occasionally thought about it, with a sense of shame that I'd started creating this universe and then just let it rot for too long.
When I picked it up again, I remembered why I'd started. Remember that, don't stop, take a break by all means, but don't let your written world suffer for inactivity.
