I have myriad ideas always swirling in my head. Every few days, a dream or experience provides me a concept for a story. I have three serious outlines going right now. One is based on a teen with social anxieties, grudges against his classmates, and home life trauma who finds mysterious powers. The other is based on my real life experiences growing up around the US and trying to find new people to fit in with, all while living in what I believe is a "normal" family...whose patriarch is 25 years older than the matriarch.

Creativity is one of the most identifiable human traits. As thinking creatures, we have the ability to go beyond simple survival--it's our own creativity that has helped us to excel as people and make our world bigger and better (and the same creativity that has harmed our world in many ways).
That's best part about writing--thinking out big picture concepts and finding creative ways to break it down into a story that thrills and relates and teaches. It's also great to grab a laptop or sketch pad and hit up a coffee shop, local pub, or park and just spill some words and images onto the pages.

Meditate, go for a walk in the woods, check out a museum, explore the city without purpose

Write and write what you like. Don't write what's popular if you aren't interested. You will find your niche and maybe your niche will take off!

Growing up in a small town, where everyone talked and everyone knew at least everyone, an abandoned mental institution was not often overlooked. At least by the young people. When adults were asked what happened inside Pennhurst (the inspiration for the story), you either got a sugar-coated answer or were told to mind your business. Some have tried to tell tales of Pennhurst as a horrible, murderous place. My story is capturing the spirit of adventurous curiosity while bucking the hierarchal society rules.
