Hi, Gillian. Thank you for your question.
Unfortunately, my books are only available on Amazon for the time being (Kindle and paperback versions). However, that may change within the next month or so for at least one of my books. I will make an announcement on this page when that happens.
But in the meantime, if you know of any Amazon customers who would be interested in the books, I'm sure they'd enjoy them. Thanks for reaching out!

I'm currently working on TAKE FIVE, Book 2 in the Equinox mystery series. Since it's an anthology series, each book in the series can be read as a stand-alone work. The characters, locations and stories are different in each book, but the underlying concept (the first 48 hours of the murder investigation alternating with the last 48 hours of the murder victim's life) is a constant in all of the books.
TAKE FIVE takes place in Silicon Valley and covers topical issues like the prevalence of technology and sexism in the workplace, all contained within a twist-filled murder mystery. TAKE FIVE should be available for pre-order in early 2018. I hope my fans will enjoy it even more than HIGHER GROUND (Book 1) and that new fans will find themselves entertained as well.

My advice is simple: keep at it. I had been writing on and off for decades yet never managed to finish an entire book. So I gave myself a deadline to finish my first book, HIGHER GROUND. I worked on it like it was a 9-5 job, poring over every single word and sentence until I felt I had written the best book I could.
I felt a great sense of relief and pride over finishing it. And much like any major task, the first time is the hardest. But now that I finished one, I know the next dozen will be no problem at all.
So that's the key: just do it.

The basic idea for my most recent (and first) book, HIGHER GROUND, originated several years ago. As a fan of crime novels and police procedural TV programs, I was always fascinated by the whole cop/criminal dynamic. But one thing that struck me about these books and shows was the relative lack of attention paid to the victims.
It was then that I hit upon the idea of a murder victim's story being told in tandem with the investigation of that victim's murder. I knew that the first 48 hours of a murder investigation is very important, so I came up with the idea of alternating between the first 48 hours of the murder investigation and the last 48 hours of the victim's life. This concept is the key to not only humanizing the murder victim, warts and all, but also serves as a unique way to entertain the reader as they piece the clues together. And thus, the EQUINOX mystery series -- of which HIGHER GROUND is Book 1 -- was born.
The idea for HIGHER GROUND was partly inspired by current events. The murder victim, Bruce Jalopnik, is an unemployed automotive worker in Detroit who can't keep up with the modern world and is estranged from his family. The main detective, Amy Delvecchio, is a tough woman with a kind heart who has to deal with her own family issues while solving Bruce's murder.
Forthcoming books in the series will feature the same concept -- the last 48 hours of the victim's life and the first 48 hours of the murder investigation -- but will have different characters and settings. Therefore, each book can be read as a stand-alone. TAKE FIVE, Book 2 of the series (set in Silicon Valley), will be released in Late 2017/Early 2018.

I try to work through it the best I can. Coming up with broad ideas for books is not difficult for me, but I sometimes struggle with the nuts and bolts of writing -- i.e., figuring out how Character A would affect Character B and how that affects Character C, etc. But I've found that staring at my computer screen until I figure it out generally works.

The best thing about being a writer is the satisfaction in melding creativity with passion and witnessing the end result. If my writing can entertain people or make them think, then I consider that to be a success.
Of course, the fact that writing is (essentially) free and has relatively few limitations is quite liberating.

My biggest inspiration for writing is life itself. We are all privy to the world around us. It's easy to find inspiration when we are constantly surrounded by it, even when it's something others may view as mundane. The key to compelling writing is to make the mundane truly interesting. Living in NYC, I am fortunate to have inspiration occurring all around me, day or night. Whether it's engaging in a conversation with people or simply observing them from afar, they always seem to provide me with that creative spark.
