Donna, I got the idea of a WWII soldier taking on the identity of someone after trips to Europe. In my head I had the middle and end of the story. After listening to Bruce Springsteen's song " The River " the beginning fell in place. I did do considerable research. The Holocaust Memorial Resource and Education Center in Maitland was invaluable. Although this may sound hoaky , I really do feel the characters when I am writing about them. They become very real to me. I guess that's why I enjoy talking about them with people who have read the book.

I would go to Camelot. In Camelot I would be a tour guide and tell people about our civility, honor, and justice. I would also wear a really cool uniform with a hat that a musketeer might wear.

I was fascinated with the idea of a WWII character taking on a new identity and avoiding being captured by the Nazis. I had a middle and an ending to my story but was not sure about the beginning. I then was listening to Bruce Springsteen's song " The River " and the idea for the beginning popped in my head.

I got an idea in my head that wouldn't go away. With encouragement from friends I decided to put the story in my head to paper.

I am editing a story that I consider a Pat Conroy type of book. I think it is a good story with a lot of unusual/different characters.

I would advise writers to remember that writing is more about process than product. Just remember to enjoy the journey.

Writing is all about process. I look forward to writing every day. I even become attached to my characters. It brings me great joy.

When I get an idea in my head, it is all I think about. I even have trouble sleeping. As a result I seldom have writer's block. If I am not sure where to go next with the story, I sleep on it which means I do very little sleeping.
