I have been experiencing writers block with my second book. The first time it happened I took time off from the work but I kept the focus in my mind on what I wanted to say. The time off helped me to refocus and when I returned to the computer the writing flowed.

Life, Death, and Widowhood, is my first book. I feel the best thing about writing is being able to impart information to others to have a connection with someone else. It feels good knowing that something that you have written can make a difference in someone's life. We go through different struggles in life but it helps when you can read and see that you are not alone. I feel as a writer that I am sharing in that connection.

My books are narratives. I have enjoyed telling the events of my life. My hope is that my life can be an inspiration for others. In the first book, Life, Death, and Widowhood, I tell the story of what I went through caring for the love of my life who was battling metastatic prostate cander. I also talk about getting your business affairs in order. The book is informative and I had the desire to pass on information to others.

I believe that if your passion is writing, you should write. I wrote my first book by sitting at the computer and writing. I wasn't sure about the content of the work but I stayed focused during the process. I didn't allow my feelings about the work to deter me from sending it to a publisher. I would advise aspiring writers not to give up.

I am in the process of writing my second book. The second book goes into more elaborate details about my life growing up in Cleveland, Ohio. The book also focuses on grief and getting over the passing of my husband and moving forward in life.

My husband passed away, January 2015. When he was diagnosed in 2014, I began keeping a journal of his visits with different doctors at BAMC, and MD Anderson in Houston. The book is a result of my journal writings during his one year battle with Metastatic Prostate cancer.
