My new release, Raluana Lane, is based on the real experiences of my grandparents during WW2. Once I realised what they had lived through I knew I had to write this book. Life and love in a tropical paradise torn apart by war - my heart broke as I learned what they had lived through.

I go back to the books I loved as a child and read for the wonder of it, until I fall in love with words and the magic of stories all over again. Anything by Susan Cooper, Diana Wynne Jones, Jane Yolen or CS Lewis (among others) reminds me of why I dreamed of becoming a writer.
