The best thing about being a writer for me is that it allows me to express myself. My mind can be an interesting place at times with multiple characters existing in it. It's fun to have a way to let them out and share them with others. I find it delightful to be an adult and still have an active imagination, to be able to create work that inspires people, carries a message or just offers great entertainment.

I get asked this question a lot by family and friends. My best answer is to share what worked for me. Just start writing. Give yourself a reason to finish also, whether it's to self-publish or share with family a sort of deadline gives your work purpose. Don't be overly critical of what you write either. Just take an idea that you have and let it naturally form and take shape.

I've learned to not accept writer's block. If I feel stuck I'll either take a break and walk away for a little while to allow my mind to catch up or I push through and keep writing whatever comes to my mind. Eventually, it picks back up.
