Actual events in my life.

My books inspirations come from actual events. I love to observe and listen to people, situations, and environments around me. They give me plenty of materials and topics for my writing.

I'm working the illustrations of my children's book that's based on an actual local event. I plan to publish it later this year in 2017. I'm also working on my second YA and General Reader book.

Meeting with my readers and becoming friends with them either by correspondence or meeting in person at book club meetings and having coffee with the groups afterward.

1. Read as many books in as many genres as possible. These are your mentors. Pay attention to the styles of prose that resonate with you the most.
2. Write a little bit every day even if they are tweets or Instagram messages because writing more words doesn't mean it's better than a few incredibly impactful and descriptive sentences. Writing intentionally and concisely is a good practice. Besides, building an audience and followers early in your writing career will give you a headstart for publishing your first book. Your readers have already gotten to know you and have an ongoing relationship with what you are about and your writing progress.
3. If nothing else, just write and let the words flow. I agree that editing comes later and just write to get into the habit is the first important step. It's about discipline and muscle memory of sitting down and writing every day. Make a writing schedule and stick to it.
4. Surround yourself with supporters, other authors, or writing group members, and disregard criticisms from negative relatives and friends like, "Writing memoirs are only for famous people," or "Who do you think you are to become an author? Good luck with that!"
5. Patience and persistence. Hustle Hard.
6. Write because you are exhaustively compelled to do so. It's a personal Must Do, and doing anything else will not cut it for you!
The rewards are overwhelmingly powerful when you publish your first book. You'll beam when readers tell you their favorite passage, ask you to sign their book and buy copies for their friends and families. Stay true to your voice, work hard; network even harder, have fun, go out to meet your readers and enjoy the fruit of your labor.
Best wishes
