Derek Niven He was not just looking at his own image. He knew for certain that something evil resided behind the mirror inlaid into the bedroom cabinets and was staring back at him.
Derek Niven Probably the Moon or Mars as I have been fascinated by these two planetary bodies since childhood. I always remember commentary in 1969 after the Apollo landings that it was forecast that a man would land on Mars within 30 years, i.e., 1999. That is still the stuff of dreams, but I still hope it can be achieved in my lifetime.
Derek Niven We Are Mars is top of the list by Cheryl Lawson
Derek Niven I am not sure if I have had writer's block as such. Particularly with the 'Pride series' the books are based on genealogical research material and excerpts from published biographies on the players and managers' careers, so in some ways all I have to do is distil the material into an interesting book for the reader.
Derek Niven I love interacting with my audience and readers who have enjoyed my books.
Derek Niven If you have a great idea for a book, then chances are there are thousands of potential readers out there just waiting to read your book. My advice is go with your dream. If you need any more advice contact Kim and Sinclair Macleod at Indie Authors World.
Derek Niven I have always dreamt of publishing my own books and the 'Pride series' was a natural extension to my role as a professional genealogist working in Scotland.
Derek Niven The idea for my most recent publication Pride of the Jocks: The Untold Story of the Men and Women who made the Greatest Scottish Managers emanated as a sequel to Pride of the Lions, when I was questioned why Jock Stein was not included, even though that book was about the players. Pride of the Jocks allowed me to delve into the family histories of three of my great footballing heroes Sir Matt Busby, Jock Stein and the incomparable Sir Alex Ferguson.
Derek Niven I am currently in the process of publishing Pride of the Bears: The Untold Story of the Men and Women who made the Barca Bears, due out end of May 2020. I am currently researching for the next in the Pride series Pride of the Hearts: The Untold Story of the Men and Women who made the WW1 heroes of Hearts due out 2021.
