I do not specifically think in terms of writing a final copy. For me, that is what creates writer's block. I simply write what comes to mind in an effort to create a draft containing any and all information to be included in given manuscript. I then rewrite, and rewrite until my approval has been met. After each writing session my trash receptacle is loaded with balled up paper of rejected rewrites.
