Jenn Duggan The best thing about being a writer has got to be the creation of worlds that otherwise wouldn't exist. A close second would be the experience of turning a tiny seed of an idea into an intricate cohesive story.
Jenn Duggan The best advice I can give to anyone in a creative field, including writers, is to do. Just do. Don't wait, just start and sooner or later you'll finish a piece that you are happy with. Then comes the really scary part – you have to show people. Just do. Do first and the rest will unfold in time.
Jenn Duggan Writing is fun for me. So, I don't think getting inspired is necessarily the problem. The issue comes in when I don't make writing and drawing part of my day. Some days I get less done than others and some days I'm more creative than the day before but it's all part of the process. It's the doing that aids the inspiration. The doing gives the inspiration a channel to funnel through. It's silly. Sometimes the things we love to do the most, the things that make us feel the most like ourselves are the things that get sent to the sideline in exchange for other things we perceive to be more important to our "everyday life." But, my everyday life is what I decide it to be right? I think so. Following that logic, in order to get inspired I just have to sit down and put pen to paper. I also keep a list of random thoughts, quotes, ideas, inventions, really anything that gets me excited. It is nice to have a well to draw from when you're feeling thirsty.
