Right now I'm doing Camp Nanowrimo! A fantasy story where a ruthless light designer does whatever she needs to to become a courtesan to one of her country's leaders after she meets her and falls for her. Not only that, but the leader and her wife are dealing with various diplomatic issues as they try to prevent war. It's great fun so far.
I'm also working on a retelling of Peter Pan that will be going out to agents in October. A cat and mouse game, Tinkerbell and Wendy fight over control of a broken and brainwashed Peter Pan while the latter tries to save her trap she calls Neverland and Wendy tries to destroy it. Hi Devon! Thank you so much, I hope you like the book to the same degree you like my cover. So I was traditionally published which means my editor had a lot of say in it, because publishing houses have more marketing experience than you. As the author you get little to zero say in your title; it depends on the publishing house, and of course if you're a millionaire you get pretty much all say. Personally I was lucky and got a deal of say-so. My editor, because the house is so small, made a mock-up and showed it to me asking if I liked it. I did and wanted to add something as well as add to the back blurb. We discussed the changes I wanted (adding The Father's symbol and giving a bit more lightness to the left side there) and we ended up adding lightness but not The Father's symbol. Like everything in traditional publishing it was very much a team effort. Feel free to ask anything else!
