Brian Kacica Hi Allison - I have not been to Asheville. The Asheville in my story is completely fictional. I borrowed it because of the name and it's proximity to Pisgah forest, which was changed in the book to Smokey Ridge. I've had other people pose this question because the book version doesn't resemble the real Asheville one bit. It wasn't intended to.

I have been to Emerald Isle on several occasions. One of my favorite places on earth.
Brian Kacica A man awakens nightly owning a completely different personality and commits brutal acts of murder, only to have no recollection of the events every morning when he wakes up.
Brian Kacica I don't really get "transported" by books. You'll notice with JDA, I write stories firmly rooted in reality. The dragons were injected into the real world, creating a great environment for chaos and covert operations. This is interesting to me. Fictional stories with their own worlds and lexicons don't interest me. Sorry, but not a LOR or Harry Potter fan. Too much fantasy and fluff. My influences were Elmore Leonard, Michael Crichton, Robin Cooke, etc...Quick to the action, rapid fire dialogue, and keep that train moving toward a satisfying conclusion for all.
Brian Kacica I've been blessed. Don't get writer's block. The words are never a problem for me, I just get bad writing syndrome.
Brian Kacica I started late in life, start early and write something every day. Even if it's five minutes.
Brian Kacica I have a dystopian novel that should be out for the holidays called Ryan's Robot. It's full of science fiction and suspense, with lots of twists and surprises. I'm really proud of it, and hope you all check it out.
Brian Kacica It has to be an interesting idea or concept. Once I have that, and a solid group of characters I can pound the keys until my fingers bleed.
Brian Kacica I wanted to bring the dragon myth into the real world, and have a present day protagonist. The reality element is very important to me when creating works of fantasy.
