Most of the fantasy stories and movies I've read or seen usually focus on a human stumbling into a supernatural world and having to learn the rules. I thought that throwing a supernatural character into a mythos that *he* was unfamiliar with would be interesting. The myth of the Wild Hunt gave me a lot to play with.

When I get writer's block I usually sit down and write whatever comes into my head. Sometimes it takes part of the story - usually a character's backstory - in an entirely different direction, in which case I have to figure out whether to keep it in or save it for later. This is a pain when I'm trying to write just one story, but since I'm doing a series, it's actually been helpful.
