Hi Riley. Your book has paranormal sites to visit around the world, and it got me wondering. Here in New Mexico, we are really aware of the paranormal because we have some fairly well known sites in NM (like Roswell, of course) and in surrounding states (e.g., the Stanley Hotel in CO). Do you find communities in which other sites are located (in the US and abroad) are always as aware of their paranormal sites?
Riley Mitchell That's a great question, Sloane! "Paranormal tourism" is definitely a growing pastime, and communities are increasingly embracing those activities wherever possible. Folks are recognizing not just that this kind of tourism brings tangible economic benefits to the local economy, but also that these offbeat cultural sites play an important role in reinforcing enduring present-day connections with regional history, folklore, and traditions. In this way, the otherworldly can provide the framework for a unique sense of place.
