It depends. Mostly separate. But when I have a due date for a book, I'll write more consistently.

The initial idea was to publish a short story collection (being the form that I am most familiar with), but going through a tumultuous time in my life I began writing a lot of poetry which later became "Black Book of Poems" so I released that first.
Most of the stories in "I Wasn't Crying Over You" are based on my own life while some are products of my imagination.

When I feel like I have something to say.
I don't really have a "method" for inspiration. I could be standing in the supermarket or going for a walk and an idea or a line will pop up in my head and I'll write it down and later turn that note into something more.
I don't believe that there is some kind of magic formula for this, but I believe that a writer should be disciplined.

I'm pretty sure that I am still "aspiring" myself, (but being about to publish my second work), I'd say that you must believe in yourself relentlessly (even if no one else does) and be persistent. I think that there are a lot of very creative people out there who give up too easily due to their lack of persistence. Oh, and you have to be disciplined.
