Make writing a habit and do it as often as possible. And read, listen, watch—basically keep learning every day.

The best thing about being a writer is that nothing is off limits.
In person, you have to live the life you have in the world you live in. Watching what you say is usually the best course of action. You can only be who you are. There's no real magic, and most days are pretty standard.
It's not bad, but in fiction, you can go on grand adventures, have magic, and face insurmountable odds, all from the comfort of your pretty standard life.
Writing fills me with vigor and makes me feel like I've just climbed a mountain or won a battle against dragons and dark wizards, maybe because, in a way, I have!

While _Raven Thrall_ is at the copyeditor, I'm working on the second book in the series (currently titled _Revelation of the Dragon_). It's all outlined. I just have to keep getting the words down. I've also started a short story in the Whitelea world called "Healer's Sacrifice," which is about Shira's family and takes place when Shira is just a tot. It's a lot of fun.
I also have an urban fantasy draft called _Blood Mastery_ on the back burner. I've been focusing on the Legends of the Ceo San world for now, but I'll get back to it when the time comes or when I just need a change of pace.

I don't generally feel like I get writer's block.
Sometimes, I don't want to write or feel other needs are more pressing. If it's just laziness, pushing through and getting a few words on the paper usually kickstart me enough to get going.
I might also do something else besides write or switch to another project, always asking myself if I'm doing something every day to further my goals as a writer. If the answer is yes, I'm usually on the right path.
