I am not working on anything new. My goal was to write a memoir which I accomplished. Considering it took me 15 years to get the book written, I am extremely pleased to have accomplished my goal. I am perfectly happy to be a one book writer since my memoir was the only book I ever was ever inspired to write. Right now, I am devoting all my efforts to promoting the one book. That is no easy task for an unknown, one-book writer but I am just as determined to promote the book as I was to write it!!

Get some feedback from a professional writer or teacher about the quality of your writing before you embark on a whole book. You need to make sure that your writing will hold the attention of the reader. I gave a professional writer about twenty pages of my writing to get some feedback as to whether I should go further. He gave me a lot of encouragement and offered to help me along the way. If you find out that your writing needs improvement in some area, by all means take a course or read up on how to smooth out the rough edges. Whatever you do, NEVER give up.

For me, the inspiration to write came from a strong need for catharsis and a desire to help people in the same situation I was in.

I had the desire to help people who find themselves in the same situation I was in, i.e. having to become estranged from a very dysfunctional family. As difficult as estranging yourself from your family might be, it can be a lifesaver........literally.
