The idea for To Become a Whale came from a very simple premise: a father and son, on the beach, building a home together. I wanted to explore what it means to be a father, and how, as a son, we can often misunderstand our fathers, who are really just men. The journey to the whaling station came later, but was a very welcome, interesting addition!

I guess I kind've just force myself to write terribly for a while until it improves. I have very little time to spare writing every day, so when I eke out a moment within which to write, it's go time! I type as fast as I can and don't look back until I'm editing.
