J.J. Falco Yes.

Oh! You want one?

In the darkness of the room, he could just make out the lump underneath the comforter, just about the right size for little Anne's sleeping body. Though his heart screamed at him not to, he walked to the tiny twin bed and reached out toward the lump, expecting - HOPING - to feel the rhythmic rise and fall of his daughter's breathing.
J.J. Falco I've got the first draft of a political satire finished. I had to put myself in a kind of insane and erratic mindset to write it, so the scenes and plot points came at different times. Now I'm sifting through all the material and trying to put it in a somewhat coherent order, without losing the erratic and insane voice.

I'm also deep into a historical/fantasy novel set in the mid 1600's in Connecticut. It centers on witch trials. There is no shortage of stories regarding witch trials and I think that's due to there being so much to explore. Religion or lack of, bigotry, feminism, spirituality, fear of the unknown, fear of different cultures and ways of thinking. I'm excited about that one.
J.J. Falco I've dealt with a lot of anxiety in my life due to people who are arrogant and cocky for no good reason.

Then I got to thinking. It seems to me that being arrogant without justification must really color the way a person perceives reality. The person probably feels that he can do no wrong. The thought likely never crosses his mind that he may be disliked.

Then thoughts just kept coming. How would that person feel about authority? How would he react to people who have earned their confidence, who have justified respect from others? How would people who can see through the facade (and I suppose it's not a facade so much as an illusion) treat the arrogant guy? From there, a story developed.
