For me, it's stepping away from the working draft. Doing something completely different. A lot of times by myself. Usually its out in nature, just taking things in. It can also be exercise. Running, for me, is both a great stress reliever and also a way I've found that tends to feed new ideas and thoughts into my head.

I've also wanted to perform (be it in sports, or with a musical instrument, or even public speaking), but, candidly, the visual focus on me during those moments was never something with which I was comfortable. Writing is an awesome way to express your ideas and creativity in a medium that allows you to be a little more 'behind the scenes'

Listen to the ideas in your head. A lot of times, they won't go away and continue to dominate your thoughts. If you think you have creative ideas, and when you write something and then reread it and enjoy the storytelling, chances are that there are probably (many) others that will as well.

I'm currently sketching out the overall plot and story arcs that will continue in the next book where By The Same Relentless Enemy left off. The overall plot in which these characters are involved will span 3 total books now. By The Same Relentless Enemy was first published this Summer of 2017. The next book in this Relentless Enemy series is slated to be released before the end of 2018.

Honestly, the ideas and creativity for certain scenes in the book come most easily to me when I'm totally relaxed, or literally almost falling asleep. I could be taxiing on a plane and be nearly nodding off like most of us do then. But it seems that's when the ideas start to run through my head. The challenge is being able to capture them then, or remembering them later!

The idea for By The Same Relentless Enemy came to me in two ways: First, I've always been fascinated by unexplained events or mysteries. Whether it's been the pyramids, or tragic events in history, I always wondered what it would be like to somehow go back and time and witness the event to try and learn the truth (even if the insight you got was fuzzy or unclear). The second part of the idea for the book came from an actual letter of condolence written sent to my grandfather 100 years ago (the actual letter appears in the book)...the language was so unusual and cryptic, it was a create source for letting my imagination take over.
