David Lee Corley Writer's block just means you haven't thought about your story enough. Do whatever you have to do to uncluttered your mind, then focus. Good writing is hard. That's what makes it worth doing. That's what makes good Writer's... the fire of the forge.
David Lee Corley My advice to aspiring writers is to put down the books that teach you how to write and just write. Have faith that you will find your way, that you will find your voice and write. Write until your fingers hurt and your mind is fogged, then write some more. Write until you find your story and only then will you truly understand.
David Lee Corley The best thing about being a writer is that you create the world and the characters that your readers will visit. It's as close as we humans can get to being a god.
David Lee Corley I'm inspired to write all the time. I get up at 5am, get a coffee and just start writing wherever I left off the day before. Sure, I struggle like most writers, but I love writing. It's the best job in the world besides being a nomad. I am really grateful that I was able to merge the two big passions of my life; travel and writing.
David Lee Corley I am currently working on my next novel, "We Stand Alone", a historical epic set during the Indochina war in Vietnam. I originally wrote it fifteen years ago as a screenplay, but I just needed more room to develop the characters and the events that happened. So, I shelved it until now. It has always been one of my favorite stories.
David Lee Corley My inspiration for writing "Monsoon Rising" was becoming a nomad and traveling through Southeast Asia. I saw so many incredible things and met some nice people along the way. I wanted to share my experience. I wrote the book while I was traveling. I actually went to all the locations in the book. In fact, many of the scenes in the book actually happened to me and many of the characters were loosely based on some of the people I met.
