My first fantasy book was the result of 3-4 years of discussing what needed to go into the "perfect" fantasy story with my son. The process was very rewarding, and when he got the final result as a surprise gift on his 14th birthday it was really the icing on the cake...

I wouldn´t say I qualify for the title of writer, but for me the best thing about writing books is the feeling when someone, somewhere in the world pick up the book and read MY work. That feeling is amazing... To see that someone finds joy in my stories or business knowledge give me a great feeling of accomplishment.

I have two-three different sources of inspiration. For my business books it is my work with clients and seeing what issues and problems that they are trying to solve. For the Fantasy/fiction part of my writing my inspiration is from my reading and discussing with my son, who is also an avid reader. There are so many great indie and published writers out there, and if you read lots of different writers with different angles on wirting, inspiration is abundant - for me anyway...

I would classify myself as a beginner at this and maybe not the best person to give advice, but for me the biggest "block" was time to set aside to write, and the notion that it was complicated to publish a book. The first block was solved when I chose to step down as Partner at PwC Consulting to free up more time. The second block I solved by the abundance of services such as Createspace and Amazon KDP, together with designers, artists and consultants available online. My advice - just do it!
