Jay Gill Hi Pauline, lovely to hear from, thank you for getting in touch, I'm delighted you're enjoying the books.

Sadly, HARD TRUTH, has been delayed until November/December.

here is the message I put out on https://www.facebook.com/JayGillAuthor

This will be a long post as I want to be as open and honest as possible with my wonderful, loyal Hardy readers.

Thank you for your patience, HARD TRUTH, is (finally) in the last days of drafting before it goes off to my wonderful new editor.

As I mentioned in a previous post it was a tough decision to postpone the release date and not one I took lightly. I knew it would mean letting down loyal readers (not something I want to repeat, ever) and also losing hundreds of pre-orders.

However, after speaking with my editor and trusted early readers and family it was decided the delay had to be done to ensure the best book possible for Hardy fans.

One reason for the delay is that HARD TRUTH grew during the second draft. The story developed further and I couldn't ignore it. I was enjoying where it was taking me and so I felt sure readers would enjoy it too.

Another reason is the new editing process I've put in place adds time to the release schedule. To date, the final edit of the book has been found lacking. It is frustrating to read reviews stating that though they enjoyed the story they found grammatical errors. I know not everyone will notice these errors, but I decided to look around for a new editor. I am delighted to say I found an editor who has worked with some big-name authors and who I trust completely to help me produce a first-class read.

I wanted to be open and honest with you and I hope it sheds some light on what's been going on here at Hardy HQ.

In other news...

Lots going on at the moment. New website underway. All existing books are with my wonderful new editor before the release of paperbacks in New Year.

Sleepless nights: I am trying to decide whether to make the ebooks available on other platforms besides Amazon, the downside is they would no longer available on Kindle Unlimited. It isn't irreversible so I might give it a try.

I am also very excited to be embarking on the next Hardy book.

Best wishes, Jay
Jay Gill I am fortunate in that have not experienced it. If I did, I imagine I would take a walk or take a bath or do something that would distract me and allow my mind to relax until I arrived at a solution to the problem.
Jay Gill First and foremost, I love to hear readers have enjoyed a story. That's the most important part.

I also enjoy bringing the characters to life and hearing their voices and finding out how they'll behave.
Jay Gill I don't need to be inspired. Perhaps because I'm writing a series, the characters leading the way and so I simply listen to them and away we go. I write every day because the stories are fighting to get out.
Jay Gill I wanted to explore a character (Kelly Lyle) who featured in earlier books. I find Lyle fascinating and so wanted to explore her and see where the story took me. It was a blast!
Jay Gill I'm finalising Hard Truth and developing the Hardy story. I'm also looking at plans for a spin-off series.
Jay Gill Read a lot and write a lot. Find your writer's voice and write what you enjoy. You're going to spend a lot of time writing and re-writing your own work so you need to enjoy the stories and characters you've developed.
