I write something else that is definitely NOT my book! Typically, I'll do a journal entry or a letter to someone I haven't seen in a while, which forces me to think differently about what I want to share and how I want to share it.

I waited too long to write this book because I kept thinking, "What could I possibly write about that has never been written about before? How can I write something when everything about this topic already exists in some way?" My fear of being criticized for a lack of originality and uniqueness held me back from finding what was, in the end, my own original and unique contribution to the world. I wish I'd faced that fear sooner!

My next book will be a productivity / time management book, and I feel like every day, I am writing new notes to myself for ideas for the book; more often, I'm dictating because the brainstorms come while I'm driving! Talk about being productive!

This book grew from a few different seeds. Many chapters are topics I'd blogged about in the past at www.clevergirlorganizing.com and I'd get great responses from how the posts helped people break free from what was holding them back when they wanted to let go of their things.
After that, I was doing a number of speaking events to groups about how many of the psychological and emotional barriers to letting things go can feel like they're conspiring against you, and the book started to write itself before my very eyes!
It's been a wonderful process to pull it all together, with a cohesive voice and a mission to help people make the change in their life they want to see.
