The sense of accomplishment when I finish writing something and someone I respect reads it and tells me they enjoyed it or that it meant something to them.
One of my former teachers, Larry Grecian, provided a great example of that with My Son Is Now My Daughter. I knew the book would be controversial to some people and, when I recommended it to people I knew personally, I was a bit nervous about what the response would be. He took the time to write me both before reading the book and afterwards and that really meant a lot to me.

My most recent book was My Son Is Now My Daughter. My son had been in the process of transitioning and a lot of people were confused by things they saw yet he had some really great supports in the community so that led me to write the book.
