Being an aspiring writer myself... my advice is simple and one that Mama Mouse ( Goodnight Wishes!) gives to her little ones... "If you make a wish... and do nothing more... it's like hiding it away in a drawer." I wrote stories over the past 25 or so years... and buried them all in a drawer! When I finally decided to work toward my wishes and dreams of creating a children's book, something "clicked"... and it all started to come together.
Self-publishing has come a long way and is accepted now more than ever,
so this is the ideal time to write that book and publish it yourself if you want! Also, there are many, many free resources out there to help you find your way.
So, my advice... don't just wish for it... know that you can do it and make it happen!

I think it is the combination of being blessed with a creative mind that is "always on", (once thought of as a curse!) and being a self-taught artist, that has led me down this path of becoming an author. While I am writing the story lines, my mind is busy at visualizing how the illustrations will look. The words and the artwork all become one.

Being able to create something... from nothing. I just love the entire creative process. For me, it is the excitement of capturing an idea, developing it into a story, and then bringing it all together with my illustrations.

I have notebooks filled with many ideas, story lines, photos and sketches that I have saved over the past 25 to 30 years, that stirs up creative thinking when needed. When the words do not come easily... I get busy doing another creative project and let my mind wonder freely... then out of no where, the exact line or phrase appears.
