It was more of a need than anything. Also, whenever I read a book or watch a movie that's really good, it makes me want to write.

I'm working on another Hollywood Novel regarding more experiences I've had in the film industry. This one's more related to production and my experiences working in films, although still a portrayal of Los Angeles life. I'm also working on a a bit of a super hero story. It's unconventional, but also the way I think it would actually be if someone woke up one day and had super powers. Should be fun

Write what you know. Use your life. Write what you feel. Experience. Be careful when taking assignments. Make sure you have a connection and passion for everything you write. Nothing's worse than getting locked into a project where you don't like the story. Nothing kills joy for writing like empty words.

The best part about being a writer is that all of life and experience is your canvas. No matter what happens to you -- good or bad -- you can use it, if you so choose. Choosing to use it is the real challenge. If you have darkness in your life, you can use it to create. Lots of people have darkness in their life in this world. Writing gives me something to do with it -- a place to put it -- something to show for what otherwise would be just pointless suffering a lot of the time. It's expression. It's what art is. Also, writing on your own time is nice. And who doesn't love stories? Being a professional storyteller is one of the coolest jobs I can think of under the sun. In a way it's a kind of ultimate reality.

Honestly, 90% of the writing work for me is just getting going, typing that fist sentence, etc. One the mind is connected it flows on its own, sort of like a stream of water. I also find it's easier to start writing first thing in the morning while waking up.

For True Grandeur I got my inspiration from some experiences I had when I first moved to Los Angeles and began writing. For my second novel that I'm currently working on, I got my inspiration from some experiences I've had living in LA and making/attempting to make independent films. It's all been a bit of a ride...
