Rex Burns Primarily through reading about the history and development of oil tankers. The actual physical descriptions of life at sea come from various voyages, usually on military vessels.
Rex Burns The idea for the most recent book came from my own wrestling in high school and college. I was not very good at it, but learned a lot about the Greco-Roman sport. The over-the-top characters and story lines in current professional wrestling (as well as the amounts of money involved) made that a choice subject.

Writing courses are good for providing captive audiences for each others' work, but the core of learning to write lies with the individual. Ben Jonson said it a long time ago: "Read the best authors, hear the best speakers, and practice, practice, practice."
