Toni Jannotta I was married to a horror film director. It was not as much fun as it sounds.
Toni Jannotta I finished a couple more books that I haven't had time to post about. For the summer, I continue to read the Mueller Report. I have the Washington Post edition. I'm just about to get to Volume II. I don't read it as much as study it with yellow marker and post-its. I go back and forth with this one.

For fun, I've recently finished Scott Cunningham's "The Magical Household" and I'm currently reading his book "Wicca: Guide to the Solitary Practitioner." I wish I could remember the others. :-(
Toni Jannotta It was many years ago. I was in therapy for child abuse. One day my therapist described my home life and her description hurt me so badly, to hear it back from someone else, that I went home and I began to write a story about a little heart in isolation that must learn to free itself. And I wrote and I wrote and I wrote until it all came out. I rewrote it about 12 times and then I had to put it aside because Life got in the way. It took me 20 more years until I was able to produce it and let it go.
Toni Jannotta There is always a story running around in my head. I started by writing lyrics because I'm a singer and a musician. After that, I began to write songs and recently I wrote a musical suite to go with my current book. So there are always stories everywhere. For me, it's a matter of finding the time and focus to concentrate on putting pen to paper. But the short answer is -- I think I get inspired to write by Life. Sometimes I think it's like a haunting.
Toni Jannotta I only wish I was currently working on something, but with this my first book, all I'm doing now is promoting it. It will release on 10/1/17. I do have another book waiting to be finished. It is waiting for me to find the time and solitude to sit down with it again and just "be." But I think that's at least a year away because I'm so busy with promotion right now.
Toni Jannotta Write! And don't judge yourself. Just write and rewrite and write and rewrite. And read! The more I read, the more I love to write. And the more I wish to become better.
Toni Jannotta I think the best thing about being a writer is the close relationship you develop with yourself. For me, when I write, it is like hanging out with my best friend. I hope that doesn't make me conceited. LOL
Toni Jannotta Well, this is my first book and there was no writer's block involved. This was one of those rare moments where the words pour out in an avalanche. I think I wrote it in one sitting. AFTER that, I rewrote it 12 times. I was actually amazed at the process because it was as if the words were using me and not the other way around. Thank you for your question. P.S. I wrote a musical suite to go with it afterwards. That's when I hit writer's block. I would sit at the piano and wait. One time I got angry and pounded the keys. When I did, the chord was so dissonant, I decided to use it! But other times I just walked away and told myself I would come back tomorrow and continue. I told myself: "Just . . . keep . . . going."
