What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

A.K. Biggins There was a moment back in 1977 when I was faced with a choice - nothing major at the time, or so I thought. I have since realised that was my sliding doors moment. Over the last few years I have been writing this story but it's very much in the back ground - it would be too painful even now to bring this story into the light.

Not really a question. Hope you don't mind. Just wanted you to know that I loved your book, Losing Jane. I lived in Bramley Leeds all of my life. It was great reading your book and recognising the places where I grew up. As I was reading it, I was picturing where the characters were in each chapter. Loved the ending. I went to Intake Secondary Modern school (as it was known then). 1966 - 1970. ? Great book

A.K. Biggins It is really kind of you to take the trouble to message me - Thank you Betty. I really appreciate it. I wrote Losing Jane purely for myself - it was cathartic and I walked through all my own memories as I wrote. I had thought that the story was a personal one and so have been astounded that so many people seem to have been able to identify and enjoy it. x

What books are on your summer reading list this year?

A.K. Biggins I really enjoyed Elizabeth Buchan's novel The Museum of Broken Promises and so have added another of her's - The New Mrs Clifton to my list. I have also been recommended Guernica by Dave Boling.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

A.K. Biggins Creating characters providing voices for them and seeing how they develop.

How do you deal with writer’s block?

A.K. Biggins I go for a walk somewhere secluded and have a conversation with myself about where I am up to. Occasionally I have to quickly put my phone to my ear if I see someone close by so they don't realise I am talking to myself.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

A.K. Biggins The book I currently working on came from an idea I had while looking at through some old news items about missing people. It reminded me of something that happened to a friend of mine when we were teenagers.

How do you get inspired to write?

A.K. Biggins Inspiration takes many forms for me. It can be an old photograph, a half heard conversation or just an idea that comes into my head while I doing the grocery shopping.
