I got the idea for Green Skin from two things. 1. I read a lot of literary fiction through the years and found Percival Everett was really bending the rules of what that genre means. 2. I wrote X-Men fan fiction when I was a kid, and I was thinking of how my protagonist had blue skin like Beast because I thought that was so cool, but if that happened to me or someone in real life, it would really suck.

I don't deal with writer's block at all. I intentionally stop writing the same thing. For instance, when I finished a novel, I don't immediately start writing the next one. Watching good TV, reading books, and playing open world games helps when I need ideas of where to go next, though.
