Patrick Attaway I got the idea for Green Skin from two things. 1. I read a lot of literary fiction through the years and found Percival Everett was really bending the rules of what that genre means. 2. I wrote X-Men fan fiction when I was a kid, and I was thinking of how my protagonist had blue skin like Beast because I thought that was so cool, but if that happened to me or someone in real life, it would really suck.
Patrick Attaway Something makes me feel an emotion and writing is my response. If someone annoys me, I might write a poem about them.
Patrick Attaway I don't deal with writer's block at all. I intentionally stop writing the same thing. For instance, when I finished a novel, I don't immediately start writing the next one. Watching good TV, reading books, and playing open world games helps when I need ideas of where to go next, though.
