Tough choice, but I'd have to say Salvatore the psychopomp. For some reason his combination of cantankerous and sarcastic just rolls out of me. Can't imagine why . . .

Mostly, I'd heard the truism that most first novels were thinly-veiled autobiographies, and so I did my best to make Jude the opposite of me: no connection to his father, effortlessly charismatic, chronically lucky, thoughtlessly cruel, etc.

Hi, thanks for saying so! Glad you enjoyed it. I do, in fact, enjoy the Nightside books, though it's been awhile since I've read one.
As for your question, yes, in a manner of speaking, the "Crescent City" books are a series. There will be at least one more of them out in the world, not so much focused on Jude as on one of the psychopomps from the first book. Hope you enjoy!

Yes! Well, in a manner of speaking. The next book isn't a sequel in the traditional sense of the word, though at least one more "Crescent City" novel will be out in the world. This next one's main character is a psychopomp from the first book, and picks up a few years after the first one.
