My inspiration comes from witnessing the courage of those who've dealt with wrongful convictions and have not only survived the trauma, but have chosen to use the strength and knowledge they've gained to both educate the public, and help others in similar situations. Also, when there's progress in the case cited in my book, I feel it's important to document those updates.

Aside from writing about something you are knowledgeable about, pick a worthwhile topic that interests you greatly. Because there will be times when you become frustrated enough to want to quit. Don't give up. Keep writing. You'll be glad you did. Don't worry about the quality of your first draft. There will be time for improvements and edits later. Lastly, remember, even the best writers have editors.

Writing allows me the ability to really think about and adequately formulate the message I want to convey. I also love connecting with potential readers and witnessing an amplified interest in this important topic after a lengthy discussion.
