D.S. Lucas Everyday inspires me with something to add to my blog, fiction, or writing ideas. I look at the world with writer's eyes, observing the details, motives, and movements of the world and its inhabitants, characters, and spirits.
D.S. Lucas I'd like The Pencil Sharpener to become a series. I'm writing another novelette about Mitzi Miller.

I continue to blog at Tales of a Part-Time Sunshine (partimesunshine.com) and dslucas.com.

I am writing a novel called I Hate Puppies, narrated by an adult dog.
D.S. Lucas Stick with it. If you can't hone in on one voice or genre of writing, switch it up. It's the only way I can keep putting words on the page. I get dreadfully bored writing only way.
D.S. Lucas Creating something out of nothing, is the best thing about being a writer.
D.S. Lucas I got the idea for The Pencil Sharpener from a spunky move my mother made on her 79th birthday. She actually went to the house she sold five years after becoming a widow and asked the new homeowner for the pencil sharpener she left hanging under the basement steps.

You can read more about this on my blog post on Tales From a Part-Time Sunshine: https://parttimesunshine.com/2017/01/...
D.S. Lucas Actually, I don't get writer's block in the traditional sense of the term. I actually am an idea hoarder and my brain is swimming with too many plots, characters, and settings. My writing gets slowed down because I have trouble focusing. When I can't get my ideas to flow and be organized, I close my laptop and do some sort of activity, like running, folding laundry, walking the dog, or going to the gym. If I'm really stuck because of brain clutter, I scrub our household toilets. This is what I do when I get really stressed.
