By definition the mystery of my life that would make for a book plot is my life itself. The birth under downtrodden circumstance. The hard-scrabble parochial school education. The unlikely college selection. Marriage. Divorce. Work. Unemployment. Redemption.
The mystery: how does someone fit all that into one life and survive in a world filled with promise, opportunity, tragedy, and sometimes even love?

I'd love to join Mark Watney on Mars as he struggles to survive while waiting to be rescued by his crewmates.

Oh, oh.
First: sorry for the delay in answering. Every so often I vanish so I can get some writing done.
Second: I have to admit that I do not have a Twitter account. Are you recommending that I do?

When I didn't know the basics of writing I could never get beyond the idea phase. Now that I have studied novel writing and screenplay writing (and continue to study both) I don't have writer's block.
For me, writer's block came from a lack of knowledge about how to write. Now that I have a good number of tools in my tool bag I don't have writer's block. Also, I am a planner, so I always know what I am going to write next as it is all laid out on paper or a whiteboard somewhere.

I don't know what the best thing is about being a writer! What I do know is that I have had the privilege of meeting some fantastic writers over the last few years and they are so open and friendly with their advice that I feel like a member of the community even though I only just published my first book.
And I get to talk to my daughter about writing and she doesn't get tired of it (she's been writing since she was 10).

My advice for aspiring writers is to learn all you can, and write as much as you can. Don't be afraid to take the time to learn, but don't use learning as an excuse not to write.
Take notes. Take lots of notes. :)

I am currently working on a 10-book series that will be a mix of conspiracy, technology, physics, revenge, redemption, and closure.
Sounds a lot like the Kidnapping Anna trilogy. :)
I hope to put out a book for that series every few months starting at the end of 2017.

I have been trying to make up stories since I was a kid. The biggest problem I had was not knowing what to do once the story was underway. The amount of information available today about storytelling is overwhelming, but makes it possible for almost anyone to tell stories professionally and get it right if they are willing to take the time to learn to do it right.
So I guess the short answer is I am always inspired to write. Time is my bottleneck, but writing is a priority and more stories are coming.

The ideas for Kidnapping Anna came from a number of different places. I have been writing for about 5 years now and have lots of ideas that start out one way and turn into something else. The idea of a young woman suddenly finding out she might have been kidnapped at an early age was not where this story started; originally the main character was going to be her father and how the story played out from his point of view.
