Stacy,
Thanks so much for this flattering feedback. It means so much to me to hear from readers.
As for The Feasts of Tre-mang, it's out of circulation due to shifting terms of service with the printer. I'm sorry it's hard to get a hold of. I think I can put my hands on a copy here. Can I send it to you directly?
Best,
Eli

Emily-- thank you so much for telling me -- it means a lot to me to know how my work hits readers. And thank you too, for selling copies! A humble bow to you for keeping literature alive.
I'm not currently working on seafaring material though sometimes I think about a prequel about Mabbot's rise to power. Instead, I'm finishing a draft of a YA novel set in an alternate (and slightly magical) American frontier era.

Hello Marialuna,
Thank you for your note and enthusiasm. Your English is not terrible! Unfortunately, Cinnamon and Gunpowder is the only work of mine that has been widely translated.
For food related fiction you might find something juicy by another author in this list:

Happy reading and safe sailing.

As a student of American Sign Language and Deaf Culture, I’ve had opportunity to consider the role Deaf people have played in history. Joshua offers Wedgwood another challenge to his worldview but is a more patient and forgiving teacher than the others aboard the ship.

I'm usually scheduled to work 11-8 Wednesdays, so I don't know if that will be possible.

I studied very old cookbooks and early culinary writings such as Brillat Savarin's work, I explored modern cooking trends, and relied on my own experiences and experiments in the kitchen. I wouldn't call it chemistry, though the science behind certain processes (such as rising dough) is fascinating. My focus was on the experiential effect primarily. It's tricky to describe smells, for example, so much of my time was spent on getting the sensations right. Though based on real methods, most of the meals are untested. We polished one of Wedges desserts and it was published by Bon Appetit magazine (link below.)
For well-tested recipes with a fanciful twist you might look into my recent culinary/cultural experiment, The Feasts of Tre-mang.
Thanks for reading, Andrea!

Thank you Marissa!
After such a harrowing journey, I'm taking a break from the briny world of Cinnamon and Gunpowder. I have made some notes for a possible prequel-- an account of Hannah Mabbot's journey toward becoming a pirate, but for the time being I'm focusing on an entirely different project. If you're still in the mood for food-centered literature, you might check out my quirky, homespun, culinary experiment, The Feasts of Tre-mang. It's an ethnic cookbook based on a culture that never existed. (Order it from your favorite bookstore or online!) Happy Holidays to you as well!
