I'd count myself to an aspiring writer as well. In the end it's all about reading and writing. A singer needs to practice and train his voice, while a dancer needs to practice and train his steps. It's the same about writing. Reading extends your mind and writing practices your skills.

It's the characters. Usually I have an idea about how they look like, what they do and how they are. But obviously the characters also have their own will and often do what they want. Sometimes it's hard to keep your protagonist alive, but often it is very interesting and challenging.

Currently I am working on the second novel, called "Großmutters Haus" (translated Grandmothers House). A story located in Germany about a family, which inherits a house from a long-dead-thought grandmother. On the first look, the house is great and inviting, but somehow it seems to have his own will. :)

A long time ago, I had a dream. It was a really crazy one. In the middle of a large city, downtown, surrounded by skyscrapers suddenly a friend and I were in the middle of a firefight. Hiding from the bullets, all I heard was that one and only voice, which was constantly screaming: "What happened to the data protection?"
Please don't ask me, how I turned this into the story of the Mindpolice (translated from German). From that dream there is not much left, but it contained the original idea.
