Just write. I've had problems starting ideas and then self editing too much so that I ended up never finishing the book. Just keep writing until you are finished. Then take a little bit of time away before going back with a fresh eye to edit. Then when you are happy, hire a professional editor. But remember at the end of the day, this is your book and vision.

Awkwardly enough I get a lot of my ideas while I'm driving in my car and have no way to write them down. I drive a lot visiting clients barns, and find I have a lot of time to think. So I keep a notebook in my car to jot down impt things and a voice recorder on my phone.

I'm working on a memoir chronicling my experiences with horses. I let fear take control and spent 17 years away from horses before finding my way back as an adult. Horses are in my blood. I became tired of letting self doubt dictate my life, although I still have my moments. Especially now as a middle-aged mom of three horse-crazy daughters. It will publish in 2018.

I love this question. My book, Equestrian Handbook of Excuses, started as a blog post on Bridle & Bone. I reached out to one of my equestrian Facebook groups, and posed the question, "What is your excuse for why you can't ride?". The responses were amazing. Not only were they piling in, but some of them were so creative! There were a lot of overlapping things and it started a great conversation. The book grew from there.
