It is the third in the Sheldon and Splash series so many of the characters were in place anyway. It is called The Devil's Arrow and features a chestnut thoroughbred with that name. He is based on our former steeplechaser, Adelphi Warrior (Alexander), who features in my partner Steve's book Race To My Dream. Woven into the plot are the Devil's Arrows monoliths in North Yorkshire.

My Sheldon books just evolve by themselves. Sometimes I get a bit stuck for a day or so but then it all falls into place.
I published my memoir Forking Off! in 2018 when I left Bradford for ten months to work as a stable hand in the Yorkshire Dales. Then my father died in January 2019. It was a very sad time and I immersed myself in finishing Broken Flight. I had written the first three chapters a couple of years' earlier and always thought it was unfinished business. Now I don't know what I would do without the Sheldon books. They are a huge part of my life.

Losing myself in a world of horses, rosettes, champagne and the countryside as a contrast to working at Bradford Crown Court.
But I also enjoy bringing in my first-hand knowledge of city criminals to give the stories a gritty edge.
My readers know that nothing too nasty will happen to their favourite characters. My Sheldon books are like pulling on a pair of old slippers or sitting in a comfortable saddle.
I am on the third one now and plan to keep on writing them.
