Obviously, I have a twisted mind! It honestly just came to me and I continued to elaborate on the idea of Hannah's escape. It evolved into what and who she ran from, then Sawyer's story came to me while sitting in a Lowe's parking lot waiting for my husband. I love the idea of incorporating facets of the people around me into my characters.

My oldest daughter inspired me to write. She was assigned to read Pride and Prejudice and acted liked it was killing her. When I asked her to fill me in on what she had read so far she said, "I just don't get that Darcy girl." I was flabbergasted! Right then we started searching for books that would better appeal to her. Everything we found had very sexually suggestive dialogue or explicit language. That was when I decided to begin writing for her to try to get her interested in reading. When she read what I had written, she loved it and wanted her friends to read it as well. I was extremely nervous to share my work with anyone else, so I had some friends read it and I received the same response that my daughter had. They encouraged me to continue and to publish my novel.

I'm actually dealing with that right now! I normally tend to turn to music to help overcome writer's block. I pick a genre of music that fits the mood of the part of the story I'm writing at the time.
