Don't hate me for saying this, but writer's block has never been a problem. (I have other difficulties!)

I feel like I can use my skills to help make the world a better place, in some small way. And I love the work of writing, so be able to contribute positively to the world while engaging in what I enjoy, well, how delightful is that?

I'm pouring all my energy right now into marketing for the upcoming publication of BENEATH THE SAME STARS, my historical novel growing out of the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862.

I just try to stay curious about the world. Inspiration comes from all directions. My problem is having too many things I'd like to write about!

(view spoiler)[My most recent book, BENEATH THE SAME STARS, will be released in August. A historical novel, it was inspired by events surrounding the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862. In 2012, during Minnesota's commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the war, I began studying the war, as I'd never heard of it. When I came to Sarah Wakefield's captivity narrative, SIX WEEKS IN THE SIOUX TEPEES, I was smitten. Her story about being captured--and protected--by Caske, a Sioux (Dakota) warrior, was compelling. As I soon discovered, her own personal history was gripping. I knew her character and her relationship with Caske would be an excellent lens through which to explore the story of the war and its aftermath. (hide spoiler)]
