Ellen Boyd I love to write so this isn't usually an issue but we all have bad days. When that happens, I daydream about all the things I want my future to include but won't happen unless I get more books published, and that will usually get me writing. If that doesn't work, I'll read the positive reviews for my first book, or I'll write some fanfiction and let those reviews boost my spirits. :-) Or I'll look at the pre-order date I set because that's the main reason I gave myself a due date, to keep a fire lit under my butt! ;-)
Ellen Boyd 'Pride Be Damned' was originally going to be a screenplay but, during my outlining process, I decided to turn it into a short story first. That soon became a novella, which then morphed into the novel that it is today. :-)
Ellen Boyd Three short stories which will span the time between 'Pride Be Damned' and its yet-to-be-named sequel in the series.
Ellen Boyd Never give up! Even if your grammar isn't great. Even if you've never been all that great with spelling. If you have a story to tell—tell it! Worry about the rest later! Editors and proofreaders are out there to help you with all these things and more. There are even some free software tools available. But only you can resolve the blank page!
Ellen Boyd Getting lost in my own imagination! The only danger being when I don't want to come back to the real world! :-)
Ellen Boyd Sometimes I brainstorm ideas, no matter how 'out there' they seem to be. Other times I'll read well-written books or watch favourite television shows/movies in the genre I'm writing (currently YA) for the sole purpose of creating younger 'voices in my head'. And then there are times when I step away from the project altogether and write fanfiction, listen to music or play a game on my phone. I basically bounce back and forth between these methods until the writer's block crumbles and I can start working on my book again! One important thing to remember is you can be writing even when you're not technically writing! *wink*
