S.C. Barrett The tired and weary nation could only reel in horror when it realized what had happened to it. As if the universe itself was playing some cruel and heartless joke upon the unsuspecting populace, the country found itself left with only two choices; both seemingly vomited from the bowels of Hell, Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump.
S.C. Barrett Creating whole new worlds full of people, places, and events. It is kind of like being a creator/god (with little g, of course) of your own reality. You create the people, give them personality, dialogue, you control their fates, the events happening, etc. Really just the process of creating. That, and discovering people enjoy the stories you write.
S.C. Barrett Different ways at different times. Oftentimes you just have to wait for it to come to you. You can sit down and force it, but from my own experience, I have found forcing it doesn't usually produce the best product.
S.C. Barrett It started with trying to come up with an idea for a short story for a magazine and based off a very old notion I had about ghosts and time. At first I was wondering how I could expand that into a 20,000 word short story, but once started the ideas kept coming and it ended up a 118,000 word novel. And that is just the first book in the series.
S.C. Barrett The second book in my Time Will Tale series as well as the first book in a fantasy series called, The Goodscroll Chronicles.
S.C. Barrett Something I have just recently adapted myself: quit trying to "write" a book, and just "tell" a story.
S.C. Barrett Sometimes listening to certain music, most always 60s-80s, that capture the mood of what I am currently writing. Kind of like a soundtrack to a movie scene. Other times I just have to wait it out until the block breaks on its own.
