I have a wide range of genres I like to read. A psychologist would have a field day looking at the selection of different types of books on my many bookshelves.
I read based on what mood I'm in - but if I had to pick my favourites genres they would be gritty drama, combined with some steamy dark romance - the sort with added psychological twists (I'm not into the sweet romance stories) - and crime fiction. Put these genres all together and that is the sort of books I love.
My personal tastes for these genres was what inspired me to put pen to paper myself.

I move on to a different part of the process - such as using that time to go back to re-read an earlier chapter or do some fine-tuning on the editing or proofing process. I find that once I have stepped away for a while - sometimes it's half an hour - other times it's two days - then I get that "light bulb" moment!
