Me and Claire attended a writing group and one of the monthly competitions was to write a short story with the title 'Vending Machine'. The idea was a meeting of two characters who met at a vending machine every break time at 10am, with "prying eyes" on them...the ideas flowed and before long the "short story" grew to 10,000!! Safe to say our group leader thought it should be continued separately from the competition and the rest is history!

Never give up! Plan, write and don't edit until you're finished. Get a professional front cover done (don't do it yourself) and ensure you get a professional editor (again, don't do it yourself, trust me!) and a proof reader - these are essential. Then MARKET the heck out of your book!!

Being able to write a story I, as a reader, have always wanted to read. It's being able to create fictional worlds in which you can escape to when the real world becomes too overwhelmingly "real".
